Instructions to create a just society

1. Carry out a broad advertising campaign with the following ad:

Honest and educated people wanted to write a Constitution — We offer base pay, plus bonus if your Constitution is selected as the best.

2. Put the participants into a deep hypnotic or hallucinatory state (*) and instruct them as follows:

Today you will cease to exist as before. You will reincarnate (you will be conceived again) at some uncertain moment in the future, in a completely uncertain genetic structure and under unknown circumstances of place, family, socioeconomic status and belonging, but in this same society in which we want to know what justice is. With this certainty in mind, write the Constitution that contains the fundamental norms that you wish for your next life. For this task you can consult all the material you want and talk with the other participants.

3. Once the Constitution projects have been drawn up, ask the participants:

Remember that today you will cease to exist as up to now, and that you will reincarnate at some uncertain moment in the future, in a completely uncertain genetic structure and under unknown circumstances of place, family, socioeconomic status and belonging, but in this same society in which we want to know what justice is.

With this certainty in mind, rate each of the Constitutions that have been drafted on a scale from one (1) to five (5). 1 is the maximum degree of aversion or rejection; 5 is the highest degree of desirability.

For this task you can also talk and debate with the other participants and look out all the information you want.

4. Carry out the counting of votes. The Constitution that gets the most points in this procedure describes what justice is for the society in question (**).

(*) In the event that, for technical or legal reasons, it is not possible to provoke a hypnotic or hallucinatory state that ensures that the participants accept for real that they will reincarnate in the conditions already described, or if such a state restricts their faculties to draft a Constitution, test the applicants through the use of the most effective legal techniques of psychology and other sciences, selecting only those who: a) Have the capacity to vividly imagine that they will have to reincarnate at some uncertain moment in the future, in a completely uncertain genetic structure and under unknown circumstances of place, family, socioeconomic condition and belonging, but in this same society. b) Will be honest when answering the question of what fundamental rules or Constitution you would like for that next life that you will have.

(**) If you want to perfect the general conception of justice that arises from this procedure, repeat it as many times as you want, putting the Constitution chosen in the immediately previous exercise for the consideration of the participants.
