Happiness

I was reading an article on happiness and I got an answer to a basic question that what is happiness? That article suggests that happiness is a combination of how satisfied you are with your life (for example, finding meaning in your work) and how good you feel on a day-to-day basis. The scenario could be different for everyone according to his/her needs or hopes but in general, happiness lies in above-mentioned definition.

Then I got to know Shawn Anchor’s research about happiness through his book “The happiness advantage”. He has mentioned some steps to access more happiness and boosting your success. These steps were gratitude, journaling, exercise, meditation, random acts of kindness.

Taking the time to feel grateful for what you have puts you in a positive state of mind. Gratitude functions to nurture social relationships through its encouragement of reciprocal, pro-social behaviour between a benefactor and recipient. While journaling is writing about emotional experiences that are associated with a host of positive outcomes.

In other words, you can control how you feel — and with consistent practice, you can form life-long habits for a more satisfying and fulfilling life.
