Drunk as Two Left Shoes
A rhythmless nation.
Six shots and the rhythm possesses me, an epileptic dance has now ensued. I balance myself and walk to the dance floor blindly. I’m drunk as two left shoes.
Many years of practice, I’ve had moving to the beat. Tonight it’s jerks and jives, moving like I have hives. The weird movements of my feet.
This didn’t support how great a dancer I am when sober and feeling calm. Instead, I danced like a wild man, tap dancing on a field of bombs.
Eventually, gravity took hold of my body and pinned me to the ground in protest. There was a round of applause from the maddening crowd, signaling I needed to rest.
I called it quits and went back to my stool to drink away the blues. No more of my rhythmless dancing because now I’m bruised and drunk as two left shoes.
