Expectations Kill Creativity

Imagination hates predictability

I imagine foes.
I’m writing this on Monday.
Fridays I find friends.

Now it’s Saturday.
I can see friends everywhere,
Till Monday thoughts come.

Thinking thus shows us
Just predictability.
No imagining.

You get good or bad
When you expect good or bad.
So see only Good.

These haikus came into being when I caught myself predicting Monday (any Monday) would be a downer, an unproductive day. Based on what? I asked myself. After all, I’m retired. I don’t have to appear anywhere outside my house on some company’s schedule. I realized how easy it is to go through old motions following old thoughts, and consequently wasting this time of my life.
