Another great way to find thrift inventory for your online business is seller websites. Yes, buy stuff online to sell online. I have done it lots of times with great success.
As I have mentioned in previous articles, excellent listings sell things faster and for more money. The flip side is also true, presenting an opportunity.

By keeping an eye on competitive resale listings you will run across an overlooked gem from time to time. Sometimes it will be a poorly done listing, maybe it’s a super niche item priced low. Since you know a lot about purses, or games, or whatever your thing is you will spot bad listings as well as bad items.

Lots and batches for sale can also be an opportunity. Especially when it is someone that is cleaning out a house selling stuff online to make a few bucks rather than donating or throwing away. By closely looking at pictures, you may see a gem or part of one that makes the entire batch worthwhile.

I have bought lots of 50 items or more used or vintage items to get a one thing in with a bunch of run of the mill stuff. I love the zoom in feature. In those cases, my goal is to pay for the lot by selling one item and make the rest profit. That’s where knowing your category better than anyone else can pay off.

These are always calculated risks, so look hard and balance the risk and reward.
